Library Policies and Procedures

Library Policies and Procedures

  • Books are checked out for a two-week period.  You may renew each book once if the book does not have a "hold" placed on it.
  • Only two books may be checked out at a time.
  • Fines are ten cents a day per book.  Students are given a one day "grace period" before fines are charged.  There are no fines for weekends or holidays.
  • Students will not be allowed to check out materials until all over due items have been returned and fines have been paid.
  • If an item is lost, the student must pay the price of replacement.  A charge will be assessed for damages to books not to exceed the cost of replacement.  Students may receive a refund if that item is found and returned in usable condition in the same school year in which it was lost.
  • Each student is responsible for all materials checked out in his or her name.  Do not lend your library books to friends.
  • You may not check out a book for another student.
  • All returned books must be placed on the book return cart.  Please do not place your library books on the circulation counter.
  • All materials leaving the library must be checked out regardless of how short the time period they are needed.
  • Students may request library materials be placed on reserve for their use if the item is currently checked out to another student. A notice will be sent when the item has been returned and is ready for check out.
  • All library materials must be returned May 1st.
  • Overdue and fine notices will be sent to and distributed by each reading teacher each six weeks.  End of the year notices will be mailed to parents, if necessary, of children with overdue materials and/or fines.  If the materials are not paid for or returned, library privileges will be suspended the following school year.
